Yes, I know i've been scarce to be found around here, but, having a few monkeys off of my back, as well as a failed campaign which results in me having significantly more freetime than if I had won, I do hope I shall be more of a regular around here.
On with the show.
The round of 16 in the UEFA Champion's League is upon us. For those of you who have not paid rapt attention, here are the ties for this round of 16:
Celtic FC v. FC Barcelona
Olympique Lyonnais v. Manchester United
FC Schalke 04 v. FC Porto
Liverpool FC v. FC Internazionale (Inter Milan)
AS Roma v. Real Madrid CF
Arsenal FC v. AC Milan
Olympiacos CFP v. Chelsea FC
Fenerbahce SK v. Sevilla FC
Tomorrow's Matches (2/19/08):
Schalke is at home, and really, this is a tossup matchup to my mind, Schalke by a goal, either 1-0 or 2-1.
Inter comes to Anfield to play the Reds, whom having just lost to lower division middle table dwellers Barnsley in the FA Cup 5th round have quite a lot to rebound from. Not many give the men of the Kop much of a chance in this matchup, however I think this past weekend's stunner against Barnsley may have awoken the slumbering red menace. Look for Liverpool to pull off a surprise 2-0 upset over Serie A leaders Inter.
Real Madrid goes to the Stadio Olympico to play a stuttering Roma club. Look for Madrid to come out of that old little town up by a goal, 1-0 - hell, i'll even tell you van Nistelrooy will score the damn thing.
Chelsea goes to athens to play Olympiacos. Now, Olympiacos, along with Celtic and Fenerbahce are the 3 big underdogs in this group of 16. 1 will advance, i do not think it will be Olympiakos however. They will give Chelski a fight tomorrow though, look for a 1-1 draw.
Wednesday's matches:
Arsenal is hosting last year's winners, AC Milan. This is the matchup of this round, easily. Arsenal is the class of England this year, and the young Gunners have something to prove after the scottish cunt's team knocked them around last weekend in the FA Cup 5th round. I've read this matchup compared to the US democratic presidential nomination fight in multiple instances in major soccer online publications. It's the young, vibrant, exciting Gunners acting the Barack Obama part to the old guard of AC Milan, acting you know who's part. I am by no means a neutral for this matchup, and my prediction will likely be off by an order of magnitude. 4-0 to the Gunners.
and i'm spent, real quick, the run down of the rest of my predictions:
Celtic will stun Barca in Glasgow, stealing the tactics Rangers used so succesffully. 1-0 Celtic.
Fenerbahce is my underdog that will advance out of the round, they'll thrash Sevilla in Istanbul, 3-1.
Lyon and ManU will grind it out in a boring ass game, 0-0.
I promise I'll start commenting and posting more, seriously.

Results:
Schalke 04: 1
FC Porto: 0
Roma: 2
Real Madrid: 1
Liverpool: 2
Inter: 0
Olympiacos: 0
Chelsea: 0
Arsenal: 0 (ugh so frustrating, so many chances)
AC Milan: 0
Celtic: 2
Barca: 3
Fenerbahce: 3
Sevilla: 2
Lyon: 1
Manchester Utd: 1
So, my record without regarding my score predictions was 5-2-1. I'm giving myself a draw for the game i predicted a win, which resulted in a draw. (i wasnt completely wrong, just somewhat wrong).
I actually got the scores exactly right for 2 of the 8 games, the Liverpool and Schalke results. That's batting .250, not bad.
